Dr Jocelyn Chua is a Senior Consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre.

Dr Chua obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 2001. She was accepted to the Dean’s List in 1997 and 2000 as a result of her academic excellence. She completed a six-year basic and advanced specialist training in ophthalmology at the Singapore National Eye Centre, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and National University Hospital.

In 2003, Dr Chua received the Courage Star Award for her humanitarian contributions during the SARS period. From 2009 to 2010, she trained as a glaucoma fellow at the Singapore National Eye Centre. She then received the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award to further pursue training in paediatric glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London from 2010 to 2011.

Dr Chua specialises in the management of both adult and paediatric glaucoma. As a specialist in the latter, she is actively involved in the international Childhood Glaucoma Research Network group and has contributed to the World Glaucoma Association’s 9th Consensus in Childhood Glaucoma Management.

Dr Chua has also contributed much to patient-centred efforts such as the establishment of the glaucoma support group initiative at the Singapore National Eye Centre as well as the development of the MyEyeDrops smartphone application, with the hope of improving patients' compliance to glaucoma medical therapy. The Hospital Management Asia 2013 Gold Award was presented to the Singapore National Eye Centre in recognition of her innovative efforts.

From 2009 to 2014, Dr Chua was an adjunct research fellow at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. Her  research interests encompassed both basic science and glaucoma clinical trials. She is first author to several peer-reviewed indexed journals. She has also actively participated – both as an invited speaker and an instructor – at several key international, regional and local ophthalmology conferences, such as the Instructional Glaucoma Courses at the World Glaucoma Congress, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meetings. Dr Chua was awarded the Bausch & Lomb Research Prize in 2008 and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Travel Grant in recognition for her research contributions in 2009 and 2010.

Prior to joining JurongHealth Campus in 2017, Dr Chua spent most of her 15 professional years at the Singapore National Eye Centre. Dr Chua also served as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and was part of the Clinical Faculty Scheme at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
